2024 is set to be another big step forward, for my little business, and it's one that I've been working towards, for some time. I'm hopeful that it is embraced with enthusiasm by yourselves, my wonderful supporters, but as they say, "Nothing ventured. Nothing gained."
I have been looking for a permanent venue, for Rebecca's Art Workshops, for some time. A place to call home, somewhere with my sign above the door, Somewhere that I can decorate as I please, and keep all my materials (rather than run them back and forth, having to set up and clear away after every session). I'm sure you understand......My own space. Welcoming, practical and professional.
Well, guess what? I've found it and it is set to be the next piece to fall into place of this jigsaw, they call life! I got the keys at the start of this month and I am currently in the throws of transforming it into the perfect space, touch wood.
Now, before I get too carried away, I recognise that The Scout Hut has served us well and I am so grateful, to them, for the opportunity that I've had there, to grow my business in a safe, practical setting. But alas, to continue this journey, I knew it was time to move on.
Obviously, there is a risk. There always is, but I am confident that this move will make my workshops and after school club even better. Not bigger, I hasten to add. This isn't about facilitating larger groups, or putting up my prices. Absolutely not. If you know me, then you'll know that I believe we have the magic number of 12 artists per session and I'd be embarrassed if I wasn't doubly sure that I was offering you value for money, at least.
What this relocation will do is move all of my artistic persuits, including my own artwork, into one place (out of my car and home) that is both sensible and expansive, in other ways.
So, for my Holiday Workshops and After School Club, this really is, in all honesty, just a change of address.
What it does mean, however, is that I can, now, have a space to host Birthday Parties and evening workshops. I can offer another day of After School Club (on a Monday) and I have added a Gift shop and Gallery to sell local craft and Art, including my own.
That is the part that opens a new door of opportunity. The chance to steer a new course, without rocking the boat that I have already built.
So, I guess, now would be the time to tell you where it is and you'd be right to be wondering. It is 'The Barn', located at Saumarez Manor, St Martins. It is a charming, old granite building with plenty of character and history. The ground floor is being transformed into a beautiful boutique, as we speak, and the first floor is a splendid open plan room, that is just about perfect for my workshops. The onsite coffee shop is a bonus, too!
Anyway, needless to say, it is an exciting and busy time. Obviously, all of our safeguarding policies are being tweaked, for the new building and the focus is very much based around providing a seamless transition between the two.
It will be the After School Clubs that will move across first, starting in January, then the half term Workshops will be next. In the meantime, don't be alarmed as I will not be spreading myself too thinly. The Children's sessions will continue to be my focus. Delivering challenging art projects to your little artists is what makes me tick. (Not in the medical sense!) The shop and gallery are in the capable hands of a good and trusted friend.
So, there you have it. Please don't worry, you can leave that to me! If you have any questions then please don't hesitate to ask me by email, or FB Messanger. I will get back to you.
At the end of every message, I write, comes a sincere thank you, to you all, for your marvellous support and your wonderful children. I really love what I do and I am grateful, from the bottom of my heart, because without you none of this would be possible and my life would look very different, indeed.
So, take care for now, I can't wait to see you all over the Christmas Holidays (At The Scout Hut!) and I wish nothing but good things, for you all, at this time.
Happy Christmas. Rebecca. X
P.S. I will post some pictures of The Barn, as it takes shape! X
